VOICE TEACHER • COACH • MENTOR

Expert coaching for singers of all levels—combining classical foundation, contemporary technique, and a holistic approach to vocal expression.

Three reasons why you should study voice with Dr. Kane:

  1. She has a doctorate in vocal performance from Cincinnati Conservatory.
  2. She is still actively performing and recording.
  3. She has a published book on singing (The 21st Century Singer).

As a crossover singer, educator, and mentor, she helps vocalists build technique, confidence, and artistic identity. Her coaching blends evidence-based voice science, artistry, and emotional connection—designed to support singers in pop, classical, musical theatre, acoustic, contemporary styles, and more.

21CS — The Future of Singing

In The 21st-Century Singer: Bridging the Gap Between the University and the World, author Susan Mohini Kane has created a user-friendly guide for these recent graduates. Kane combines the benefits of an instructional manual with those of a self-reflective workbook to provide emerging classical singers with both practical and inspirational advice.

Vocal Lessons

Individual coaching designed to unlock vocal potential and strengthen technique.

The foundation of singing is posture and breathing technique. Learning to breathe for singing is also healthy and beneficial for life.

Making a tone from a healthy and vibrant fundamental tone saves lots of time in creating your most resonant tone. Vocal cord closure is both required for healthy tone production and fun to master.

Placement and resonance are all about great vocal cord closure with a sound released into a beautiful resonator (the pharynx or throat). Combined with clear diction, your singing levels up quickly.

It just takes practice and technique to be able to expand your range both upwards and downwards.

There are style-specific sounds that need to be produced healthfully for a sustainable career. Belting, sliding, vocal fry, whisper, etc.

Performance skills are necessary to complete the picture. If you are singing in a studio only, not much is needed. But if you are singing in front of an audience, you’ll need to work on presentation of your whole self. These skills can be learned.

Crossover
